Po Kim painted the subconscious, melting together and flowing into his long life, with spontaneous brushstrokes─freely creating images with each movement of his brush, without planning ahead. One might compare it to an impromptu performance by a seasoned musician. His work shows little concern for logic or rationalization: it is intended instead to infiltrate into the conscious domain through the subconscious, into the physical world through the metaphysical, seeking a merger of the two. On large canvases, where order is created out of chaos, where man, fauna, flora, and all living things are in harmony, and where darkness and even sadness are reconciled in the soul through peaceful acceptance, this is Arcadia, an earthly paradise.
