Born in Gunwi, Gyeongsang-do, Korea (1928-1987). Studied under Yamada Minoru at the Tokyo YMCA. Studied at an art school in Tokyo for two years and returned to Korea in 1947. After being assigned as a teacher at the Mokpo Public Middle School in 1947, continued teaching at Jeongmyung Girls’ Middle School, Mokpo High School, etc. Joined and participated in groups such as Christian Artists Association (1965) and Shin Ki Hoe (1965), an art teachers’ group. Held solo exhibitions at Mokpo YMCA Hall (1954), Dong Hwa Gallery (1959), Galerie Mediane-Elko (1980), etc. Participated in the 1st Korea Art Teachers’ Association Exhibition (1957), 1st Contemporary Art Exhibition (1957), Korean Contemporary Art Exhibition (World House Gallery, New York, 1958), etc. Received the Gold Prize in National Woodblock Printing Contest (1968). Exhibition for 32nd anniversary of his death were held in Chosun Ilbo Gallery (2019), and Soam Memorial Hall (2019).
