Born in Seoul (1916-1970). Started artistic career by being selected for the 8th Joseon Art Exhibition (1929, at 14 years old) while attending middle school affiliated to Kyeongsung School of Education. Graduated from Kyeongsung School of Education in the Department of Training (1937). Won third place in the 3rd Chosun Student Artwork Exhibition (1932) and was selected for the 4th Ministry of Education and Culture National Exhibition of Art (1941). Held solo exhibitions at Dong Hwa Gallery (1962), National Library of Korea Gallery (1963), Shinsegae Gallery (1967), etc. Was of groups including Changryongsa (1942), 1950s Art Association (1950), Gijo Associates (1952), Chang Jark Fine Arts Association (1957), Shinsanghoe (1957), Gusangjeon (1967). Took positions as a professor in Fine Arts at Hongik University, and editor for government-published textbooks at the Ministry of Education. Worked as a dedicated artist, educator, and critic. Posthumous exhibition was held in Shinsegae Gallery (1970).
