In Between
In Between Korean artist-Bohie Kim is well known for her featuring landscape using moderate colors and structures. However, inspiring silent and deep moving landscape was not her initial feature. Initially, her work was focusing on one aspect of the monotonous every day lives or on coloring landscape as they are. Having been evolved for several times, Kim’s work finally characterized what is now as encompassing nature concisely. Featuring the scenery of Yangsoori, Joong-Ju lake and Jeju island In the exhibition further extends her trait of expressing the nature succinctly. Moreover, this exhibition will provide opportunities to speculate deeply by appreciating subject matters with eyes and mind through participating Kim’s unique way of looking. In the exhibition , Kim particularly ponders on relationships lying “in between” the subjects. As painting pictures of nature as it is seen with her eyes, she adapts the nature viewed with her mind. Kim is paying special attention to newly found space lies between subjects that are different and incompatible with each other. The space lies in between will be embodied to balance the subjects and to surpass the realm of boundaries. Another special feature of works in this exhibition is that Kim has added more colors which used be simply moderate. Grey seas has evolved into jade green seas, white sky into deep-indigo blue sky and black mountains turned into one with green grass. Upon calm black-and-white drawing, bright yet strong colors have been added. Using fine brush with repeated touch as if it is absorbed into the picture, Kim’s work will make one getting engrossed in the unintentional depth of the arts. There are twenty works in this exhibition displaying landscapes with moderate colors as well as flowers with delicate yet bold description. We sincerely hope that you could find ideal, harmonic spaces lie nature and nature, subjects and subjects, beings and beings as you meditate them.
