The four artists to be introduced with this exhibition are Korea’s Jae-sun Lee and Jin-yong Jung, and China’s Wang Fenghua and Xiong Yu. While Jae-sun Lee and Jin-yong Jung prefer constructing their canvases with various objects, Wang Fenghua and Xiong Yu are more representative of simplistic paintings. Born in the early 1970s, the four artists in their 30s are characteristic of the trend in contemporary art of Korea and China. We hope that this exhibition titled “Human Ability” would serve as a stepping stone for the artists’ construction of a paradigm. Additionally, we hope to further magnify the potentials of contemporary art and contribute in propelling its movement forward. Contrary to the earlier, characteristically one-way exhibitions held by Chinese artists in Korea, we hope take this opportunity to expand the arena for communication between the two cultures.
