Hakgojae Design | PROJECT SPACE presents works by YOU Seok-Il (b. 1984) in his solo exhibition, The Never-resting Fire, from February 3rd (Wed) to February 28th (Sun), 2021. This exhibition opens up the first quarter of exhibitions in 2021. YOU’s recent paintings from the past two years are presented for the first time. The aspect of conveying meaning to subject matters found in everyday life and intensively portraying them is noteworthy. A total of 52 paintings, including Bonfire series that depicts burning fire on 42 small canvases, Folding a Flightless Paper Plane series, Past Memory series, etc. are on view. YOU Seok-Il was born in Seoul, 1984. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Painting at Hongik University in 2011. He held his first solo exhibition, Explosion (BACKROOM, Seoul) in 2019. He also participated in group exhibitions at Gallery Hyundai (Seoul), Gallery Korea at Korean Cultural Center (New York). He is currently living and working in Seoul.
