LEE Jinyong

 

Lee Jinyong enjoyed reading dictionaries as a child, and therefore was well informed. This provided materials for Lee’s works. He worked with various materials including, acrylic, oil, wood, stone, epoxy, collage, etc. Once he finds a subject or idea that interests him, he studies the best material to express it and constantly test different methods until he reaches his satisfaction. In his recent works, he pervades his interests into a series, such as Type series and Continuum series.  

Lee Jinyong was born in Busan, Korea in 1961. He received his BFA from Dong-A University in Busan and currently lives and works in Busan. Lee was awarded Gold Medal Prize by Korea Contemporary Art Awards when he was only 20 years old. He received the Joongang Art Prize by Samsung Ho-am Art Gallery, the Special Prize from Dong-a Art Awards by National Museum of Modern Art, Korea, the Special Prize of Korea Art Awards by National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and, more. Lee Jinyong’s works are part of public collections at Seoul Museum of Art (Seoul), Samsung Ho-am Art Gallery (Yongin, Korea), Hanlim Art Museum (Daejeon, Korea), and LA Artcore (Los Angeles, USA).
