JOOJAEBUM (b. 1983) investigates the pixel as a visual language that extends beyond its role as the smallest unit of a digital image. While pixels coalesce into a clear image from a distance, they dissolve into abstraction upon closer inspection, opening up multiple possibilities for interpretation. Across painting, installation, public art, and brand collaborations, he translates the pixel into physical space, exploring the boundary between the digital and material worlds and the point at which the virtual and the real intersect.
JOOJAEBUM was born in Seoul, Korea. His solo exhibitions include Beyond the Screen (2025, CDA, Seoul, Korea), PIXEL to FACE (2024, CDA-zero, Seoul, Korea), Pixelized Adventure in Japan (2023, Sony Park Mini, Tokyo, Japan), OFF TO PIXELLE WORLD (2022, Stand By B Gallery, Seoul, Korea), and PICK × CELL (2019, AVENUEL Lotte Department Store Main Branch, Seoul, Korea).
His selected group exhibitions include Solo Exhibition Solo Exhibition SOSOSOLO EXHIBITION (2026, Hakgojae Gallery, Seoul, Korea), A Pixel Fragrance (2025, Kalei, New York, US), AMONG US (2024, Gallery STAN, Los Angeles, US), Photosynthesis Theme (2023, all day place shibuya, Tokyo, Japan), and SCREENS (2022, GenG, Los Angeles, US). He has also collaborated with numerous global brands, including Adobe, NEXON, NIKE, UNIQLO, Dior, Google Play, and Starbucks.
